 What Is Critical Thinking?

 Critical Thinking is a  mental process that involves analyzing, evaluating and synthesizing information in order to make informed decisions, to solve problems and to reach at logical conclusions. 

This is an essential skill to be developed by lots of fields such as education, business, law, science and healthcare to develop the personality and to make accurate decisions to separate correct from wrong.

Characteristics Of Critical Thinking

There are four main characteristics of critical thinking. They are as follows,
  • Active Listening 
  • Curiosity
  • Self-Discipline
  • Humility

Active Listening

Always a good communicator is a good listener. A good listener possess the following characteristics.
  • Listening  in the purpose of understanding
  • Asking deeper questions
  • Avoid interruptions
  • Withhold judgment
  • Training the mind to not to be distracted
  • Slow down and practice silence  
  • Take the non verbal clues given by the other party
According to my point of view about myself I do have these qualities but I should train myself to get the clues from others through non verbal communication and to ask more deeper and logical questions.


Being Curious

Curiosity is a main factor that keep our brain more active. Curious that is created in our mind helps to think about lots of things critically. Curiosity also invites the vulnerability such as anger, perfectionism, getting critical and emotional intensity. Curiosity helps to keep the focus on the topic that we are looking for, to ask the correct, deep and relevant questions. The more an individual know brings them to better conclusions through critical thinking.


Being Disciplined

It is essential to be well disciplined before coming into conclusions once we are facing a situation. Jumping into conclusions to come up with certain decisions should be done after a proper analysis, considering about all the possible alternatives. Required time should be taken to stop and ask appropriate questions in a disciplined manner. Therefore, being disciplined is a major characteristic of critical thinking.



Being Humble

Always we should be humble enough to listen to others ideas, consider about the others ideas and views and come up with the best possible way. A critical thinker should be humble enough to accept others, admit the mistakes, forgive the mistakes and to correct the mistakes by thinking in a logical manner. They should be open minded and should be adaptable ta any kind of existing environment.


Every individual must train the above given qualities to become a good critical thinker.

Discuss the solution that we can handover to the Sri Lankan Cricket Board to improve the  quality of cricket.

There are number of reasons to decline Sri Lankan Cricket. Some of those reasons can be shown as follows. The players are not consistent and they are not dedicated. In some cases Cricket board also have lose their focus on the betterment of the players and they are focus on making money. The lack of infrastructure facilities also disturbs the process of building up professional players. Unnecessary political involvement and the irresponsible actions of the players have cause the decline of the Sri Lankan Cricket.

Here are some of the solutions that we can follow to uplift Sri Lankan Cricket. The media and social  media should be more responsible when broadcasting news. Government should involve in building infrastructure facilities, rules and regulations and training routines  to build up professional players while standardizing Sri Lankan Cricket. Also steps should be taken to increase the physical and the mental wellbeing of the players.
